Storytelling in social media helps interest the viewer/reader. It connects to emotions of the viewer. They want to relate to the viewer and reach them on a personal level. Through this approach, you have the potential to reach a bogger audience.

In bridal, you as big of an audience as you can get. Big name bridal salons have a big reach, so it's important for little shops and designers to use storytelling to compete. I will be showing examples of how some designers use story telling to showcase their designs.

Pnina Tornai

One designer who has used storytelling is Pnina Tornai. Her fabulous gowns have been shown on the show "Say Yes To The Dress". Pnina is known for the sparkle, bling, the glam of her gowns. On her Instagram account, on September 21st, 2022, she posted a video of her new line of flower girl dresses (shown below) for bridal shop Azazie (I suggest to look them up).

The video goes through the styles of each dress and the details of each dress with the model doing a little pose. The video does some storytelling by having the model change her expression for each dress and play with the poses. But, the video is only a supplement to the description. The description is painting a picture of most little girl's fantasy of becoming a princess. This plays on the emotion of the viewer, especially if they are a bride, and how they might have wanted to be a princess. This could influence the bride looking the video and make her want to purchase a dress for her flower girl, so she can look like a little princess for the day.

Randy Fenoli

Another designer who uses storytelling is Randy Fenoli. He is known for his work at Kleinfeld's in NYC and on the show "Say Yes To The Dress". His design style is feminine, with florals, and inclusive sizing. On his Instagram account, on May 21st, 2022, he posted pictures of his new design, the Delaney (shown below).

The pictures of this model in what looks like a park with a beautiful fountain. Each picture shows the model, in the same dress, in different poses in different areas of the park. The pictures use storytelling to show that a beautiful dress, placed in the right setting, can make anyone look beautiful. The description adds to the pictures by stating adjectives that evoke emotion when looking at the pictures. And to add an extra touch to the post, they welcome comments from the viewers and to tag their friends too.

Last Light Apparel

And lastly, I know this brand isn't bridal, but I think it's important to touch on the small businesses too. And who would I be if I didn't incorporate a brand I follow. Last Light Apparel is a small brand that focuses on horror themed apparel. On March 20th, 2022, they reposted a video on their Instagram account of Sabina Chowaniec (@makeupbysabinac) had made showing off a few of their t-shirt designs (shown below).

The video shows Sabrina mouthing along to the audio playing (a snippet of audio from Scream) while switching t-shirts. The video uses storytelling to relate to the niche community of people who like/love horror movies. The audio attached to the video also makes the viewer relate more to the brand. The viewer would say, "You like horror movies? I like horror movies too!". The audio mixed with the horror themed t-shirts makes the viewer all the more interested.
